About AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange).

AMS-IX is the largest Internet Exchange in the world, interconnecting around 300 ISPs, Carriers, content providers and other Internet related businesses. AMS-IX builds its services around a state of the art Metro Ethernet network, switching at peak times over *400* Gbit/s. In order to support the large number of high bandwidth ports at which customers connect, AMS-IX always uses the latest developments in hardware and gives leading input to switch manufacturers for the development of next generation equipment. AMS-IX, located in the heart of Amsterdam, is currently operated by a staff of 25 people in various functions. The AMS-IX Web Developer is responsible for the websites and portals of AMS-IX and Euro-IX. To be able to cope with the work load we are now looking for a additional Web Developer.

Function

Together with our other web developer you will be working on the websites and portals of AMS-IX and EURO-IX. You will be developing new applications and maintaining existing ones. There are also a number of ongoing and planned projects which will provide a range of challenges and will require a broad set of skills.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has experience with the following:

• MVC frameworks (preferably Ruby on Rails).
• Programming with Ruby or PHP, preferably both.
• Designing/operating MySQL and/or Postgres databases.
• Data modelling.
• Good communication skills in English.
